Dungeon Siege III Xbox 360 Review

There are two things that you should know about me for the purposes of this
review: 1) I'm a RPG junkie and love nothing more than spending 40+ hours with a
game if it has the story and characters to make me want to invest that kind of
time, and 2) I love loot. I love getting new weapons and armor in games such as
the various MMORPGs out there, equipping it for the first time, and seeing how
my look changes. Stats are great too - don't get me wrong - but I'm all about
the visual change. Loot is all about being able to look at someone and instantly
know how accomplished they are simply by what they're wearing. So how does this
all fit in with Dungeon Siege III? Well, it's not a particularly long experience
(if you just play through it once), which is good I suppose since the story
isn't that interesting nor the characters more than cardboard cutouts, and
besides the odd piece here and there, equipping new weapons and armor often
doesn't have an affect on how your character looks. So putting two and two
together I guess you can see where this review is going to go.
I like crawling through dungeons and gathering loot, so I was more than happy to
review Dungeon Siege III (plus the current drought of AAA titles made me yearn
for something to pass the time). Having never played any of the past
installments, I went into Dungeon Siege III with a clean slate and no
expectations, so while some people have claimed that the game has diverted too
much from what the original games did and has suffered for it, all of that is
just gums flapping to me.
