Truck ditched twice, man charged with impaired driving
On June 29, just after 2 p.m., an officer sitting with a radar gun trained on Highway 400 traffic in Seguin Township clocked a northbound Ford Focus at 154 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone. Police charged a 19-year-old Burlington man with speed racing. The man’s license was suspended for seven days and the vehicle impounded for a week. The man was scheduled to answer to the charge at the Parry Sound Courthouse yesterday. On Lake Rosseau on July 2 a young man had his upper leg struck by a boat propeller. Police were called just before 5 p.m. As the boat drifted toward a rock cliff the captain announced to the other eight young adults when he was near Little Round Island he was backing the 18-foot Monterey up. A 26-year-old male was holding onto the back of the boat when the propeller started. Two nearby vacationing nurses saw the accident and went to help. The man was taken to West Parry Sound Health Centre for treatment. It wasn’t a life-threatening injury. A person walking along Clear Lake Road, in Seguin Township, called police after watching this at 7:53 pm on Canada Day. That was just one of the at least 293 calls the West Parry Sound OPP responded too between June 29 and July 5.
