F5 Networks Puts ADCs in Charge
F5 Networks today released new management software for its BIG-IP line of application delivery controllers (ADCs) that is intended to give IT organizations a way to centrally manage the entire data center.According to Eric Giesa, F5 Networks vice president of product management and marketing, version 11 of F5 Networks’ BIG-IP software creates an application control backplane that allows IT organizations to not only dynamically provision applications, but also allocate what server, storage and network resources each application will be allowed to invoke.
The latest version of the company’s BIG-IP software, says Giesa, allows IT organizations to provision applications, including the network and underlying storage resources required, in a matter of minutes. Many IT organizations can provision a virtual machine quickly, but it still takes weeks to allocate networking and storage resources. Because the ADC is integrated with all of these devices, Giesa says it is only natural the ADC serve as central points of control.
To make it easier to access this capability, F5 Networks is also rolling out a series of iApp tools that IT organizations can use as templates for deploying applications, or they can choose to develop their own iApp templates, said Giesa.
In addition, F5 Networks is also releasing a new Application Security Manager that is based on version 11 of its BIG-IP software.
Version 11 of the company’s BIG-IP software will be available in the third quarter. But I would just point out that Alabama New South Coalition doesn't appear to have filed any campaign finance reports with the Secretary of State's office since 1999 . After the 2010 primary I emailed the contact on ANSC's website to ask about this failure to file. Crickets. I also phoned the SoS office to see if there was another ANSC listing ... they couldn't find one.

Did I mention that this does not require a degree in rocket science? we're both on the warpath tonight! :-) I remember that we spent hours going through the Alabama SOS Web site trying to find these financial disclosure forms a year ago and nobody seemed to think it was a problem. Now, the ADC finds itself "hoist on it's own petard" and unfortunately the ADP (important difference, that last initial) will probably be hurt more by the failure than the ADC will be.
Tried to check the ADC/ANSC records to see who had paid and how much ... surprise! There were no records. Of course, all the candidates duly filed their reports and reflected the "contributions."
