Movie rights for Secret of Chateau de Moreau, a mystery/thriller iPhone adventure game from 4:33 Creative Lab, have been optioned by EK Films. The game immerses players in the interactive story of Antoine Moreau, who has inherited his foster father's enormous wealth, along with the mystery of his foster father's murder—in which Antoine himself is a suspect.
The game has found considerable success on the smallest of screens as a mobile gaming phenomenon in South Korea. Its appeal has motivated its translation into English, and it's expected to woo gamers around the world. But Secret of Chateau de Moreau is now destined for larger things than the iTunes App Store, if Eric Kim has anything to say about it.
Eric Kim, the producer behind EK Films, knows a good story when he sees one. Kim earned his sterling reputation in Hollywood as a successful literary agent. His resume boasts clients like Justin Zackham whose past work includes Going Greek (produced by Eric Kim), Bucket List (starring Jack Nicholson, Morgan Freeman); Zackham is currently directing Wedding (starring Robert De Niro, Robin Williams, Katherine Heigl, and Amanda Seyfried). Other clients Kim has represented include Matt Allen & Caleb Wilson (Soul Surfer) and Bob Pulcini & Shari Springer Bermann (American Splendor, Nanny Diaries).
Kim graduated from the University of Chicago to become the first Korean-American agent in Hollywood, and has leveraged his success to create EK Films. Currently working with filmmakers in Korea, Kim has also taken the opportunity of being abroad to option promising Korean films to be remade in Hollywood.
