Gilbarco buys Brazil pump maker

The terms of the acquisition of Stratema Indústria E Comércio Ltda. of Guarulhos, São Paulo, Brazil were not disclosed.

According to the announcement, Stratema's customers include large regional oil companies, local oil companies and independent retailers. Officials with Gilbarco, which is based in Greensboro, said the acquisition "significantly enhances Gilbarco Veeder-Root's business in Brazil."

Various Gilbarco units make gas pumps, commercial fueling systems, retail payment systems and other products. Besides the U.S. and Brazil, Gilbarco has manufacturing and research facilities in Argentina, Australia, China, Germany, Italy, the U.K., India, New Zeazland and Finland. It has about 4,000 employees worldwide.
