Marcus Johnson has led the masses to enjoy his love of jazz through his brilliant composition of contemporary smooth jazz with a definitive urban groove. This renowned keyboardist released his 12th CD "This is How I Rock" last July which has soared up the charts. Prior to which, all time CD favorites were "Poetically Justified" and his groundbreaking Billboard Top 15 Contemporary Jazz "FLO" series. You can even catch him on FOX5 News each week as he holds a seat on the American Idol Chatter panel during the season. Belly of Nile™ is providing the beautiful bellydancers that will be performing this evening. These professional dancers have trained with world-renowned master artists Sahra Saeeda, Bozenka, Souhail Kaspar, and Karim Nagi to name a few. Bellydance is an expression of musicality so with each twist of the hip, roll of the belly, shimmy of the shoulder, you will hear an instrument playing. Will it be the piano, the saxophone, the bass, or perhaps the drums? That is the Belly of Jazz! This evening will take place in the ‘Cotton Club-like' vibe of The Carlyle Club. The attire is cocktail chic and photo ready as our event photographer will be capturing our guests in their best. Unearthed In The Atomic Attic: How To Belly Dance For Your Sultan
My blogs are all about sharing obscure and sometimes odd recordings. I have three blogs to enjoy now. Blogs that feature introductions to vintage & unique gospel recordings, atomic age pop and lounge/strange music.
My gospel blog, The Good, Bad & Ugly Gospel Record Barn focuses mainly on area artists (Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky) who recorded on labels such as Jewel, Rite and Queen City label.
In general, I will not be posting entire albums and or samples at all if I find the recording on CD or by the download.
If an artist is still working, I will usually refrain from posting a sample. I do my best to locate information on the artist.
I realize relatives and friends may find posts of people they knew or know. I hope you will be pleased with what you read.
Remember, the worst fate for any artist, I believe, is to be completely forgotten. I don't blog 100s of records I find, including local acts, because the recordings are simply lackluster. I think that it is better to be remembered for something crazy, than for nothing at all.
