Gulf of Maine Research Institute hires first CFO

The Gulf of Maine Research Institute has recruited Ellen Grant as its first chief operating officer.

Grant served as executive director of the Institute for Civic Leadership from 1998-2008. During the past three years, Grant has served as a consultant to The Nature Conservancy and its local partners in Micronesia and the Eastern Caribbean. Grant is a graduate of Colby College .

Portland -based BerryDunn, CPAs and Management Consultants, announced that Ryan Gough has been promoted to manager in the firm’s Health Care/Not-for-Profit Industry Group.

Gough provides audit and accounting services to a variety of clients in this industry group including higher education institutions, hospitals, long-term care facilities, behavioral and mental health agencies and various other types of organizations.

Lynn Thibeau of Fort Fairfield has joined Means Investment Co. as a financial advisor-production assistant.

Nikki Busmanis has joined Nancy Marshall Communications as account coordinator-executive assistant.

Busmanis is from China and recently received her bachelor of arts degree from Colby College. Before joining NMC, Busmanis interned at the public affairs firm of O’Neill and Associates of Boston, Mass. where she assisted in media outreach and press release distribution.

KeyBank announced that Senior Vice President Steven Gagnon has been named Aroostook County market leader. In this new role, Gagnon will oversee the eight KeyBank branches in Aroostook County while also managing the core business banking activity in the area.

Gagnon earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Maine and has been with KeyBank for 33 years.

Emerald Hospitality Associates has hired Dawn Larrabee to be director of sales at the Hampton Inn of Presque Isle.

Larrabee recently graduated cum laude from the University of Maine at Presque Isle with a degree in business management and brings extensive customer service experience to the position.

Woodard & Curran announced that David Remick has joined the firm as its chief financial officer.

Most recently, Remick was director of international finance operations for Millipore Corp., where he managed a team of 70 people spread across seven time zones. Remick will oversee Woodard & Curran’s finance team and work with other members of the executive leadership to implement the firm’s strategic vision.
