Little Brown Church sets marriage reunion
NASHUA - The 59th annual Marriage Reunion at The Little Brown Church in the Vale will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday with the pastor's reception, with hosts, the Rev. Jim and Vicky Mann.
The church is two miles east of Nashua on State Highway 346.
Anyone interested in entering the fourth annual "The Church in the Wildwood" talent competition may contact the church office at (641) 435-2027, send an email to info@littlebrownchurch.org or send a letter to 2730 Cheyenne Ave., Nashua, IA 50658.
Preregistration is required to enter this competition, which must be in the form of a musical number or poetry or something of similar form and must include a rendition of the hymn "The Church in the Wildwood." A winner will take home this year's Pitts' Award.
Sunday's activities on Aug. 7 start with 9 a.m. registration at The Little Brown Church in the Vale, and an old-time hymn sing will begin at 10:15 a.m.
Former brides and grooms will recite the renewal of wedding vows at the 10:30 a.m. worship service, and a picnic lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $7 a person.
Heartland Harmony will perform at noon Sunday on the entertainment stage. Prizes will be awarded for the couple married the most years, the bride and groom most recently married, and the family coming the farthest distance. Renewal of the wedding vows will be repeated at the end of the afternoon's activities.
