Whole Living Smoothies – iPad App Review
With temperatures hitting the century mark in the Dallas area for the foreseeable future, many of us are looking for ways to beat the heat. What better way to do that than with a cool and tasty smoothy? Martha Stewart and Callaway Digital Arts have once again released an iPad app sure to hit the spot. Whole Living Smoothies is a compilation of 36 different recipes featuring a host of healthy ingredients and something to please everyone.

Each category screen displays a delicious assortment of smoothies with everything from Strawberry Soy to Pineapple Kiwi. Make a selection with the tap of your finger and the recipe appears on the screen along with nutritional information under “Health Stats.” You also have the ability to adjust the size of the font, mark your favorites, share with friends via email or Facebook and add notes.
Additional information is accessible from the pull-down Martha Stewart menu in the top left corner. Search allows you to narrow your recipe options using a wheel interface, while Videos offer instructions on everything from smoothie making to how to clean a blender. Food Glossary and Tips provide important information on ingredients, healthy eating and much more. Not sure how to maneuver your way through the selection of recipes? Whole Food Smoothies was featured by Apple in New & Noteworthy and rose to the rank of #1 in the Lifestyle category. It is currently available for download from the App Store for $1.99.
What I liked: This app is ust what I expect from a Martha Stewart and Callaway Digital Arts partnership. Beautiful photos, easy to follow directions and plenty of yummy recipes. I also liked the video section with examples on who to clean a blender and the tips section which included information like how to store fruit.
What I didn’t like: I would prefer to have all the recipes and information included in the app from the get go.
To buy or not to buy: Whole Living Smoothies is easy to use and includes and range of tempting recipes. The “slimmed down” $1.99 price tag is valid for a limited time during the summer, so get it now and enjoy.
