～AMD E-450を搭載して39900円のモバイルノート

プロセッサ は, "Fusion APU" と 呼ば れる AMD GPU 統合 型 の E-450.何 度 か 記事 を 掲載 した E-350 AMD の 上位 版 だ 2.コア, キャッシュ 512KB x 2, 18W TDP な の は 同じ だ が, クロック が 1.6 GHz から 1.65GHzへ、内蔵GPUが「Radeon HD 6310」から「Radeon HD 6320」へ、メモリがDDR3-1066からDDR3-1333へと、少しずつであるがパワーアップした。E-350とどれだけ差があるのか気になるところだ。

　対となるチップセットはAMD A50M FCH。ただし本機のSATAは3Gbpsまでしかサポートしない。メモリは標準で4GB搭載。2スロットあり、1スロットのみ使用、1スロットは空きとなっている。従って+4GBの計8GBへは無駄なく増設可能だ。

　液晶パネルは11.6型の光沢タイプでHD解像度の1,366×768ドット。HDMIとミニD-Sub15ピンの出力を備える。このクラスでHDMIに対応しているのはポイントが高い。

　ネットワークは有線LANがGigabit Ethernet、無線LANがIEEE 802.11b/g/n、そしてBluetooth 4.0。安価な機種では有線LANが100BASE-TXまでなのが多い中、GbEなのは嬉しい限りだ。

　その他のインターフェイスは、USB 2.0×3、2in1メディアスロット、マイク入力、ヘッドフォン出力、約102万画素のHP TrueVision HD Webcam。USB 3.0が1ポートも無いのは残念だが、もともとA50M FCHに含まれておらず、別途用意するとコストアップにつながるため、仕方ない部分だろう。

　サイズは292×216×20.5〜34.5mm(幅×奥行き×高さ)、重量約1.53kg。6セルのバッテリを使用し、駆動時間は最大約9.5時間となる。直販価格は驚くことに4万円を切る39,900円。OSにWindows 7 Home Premium(64bit)SP1を搭載しているにも関わらず、Atomプロセッサを搭載した一般的なネットブックより安価となる。

　参考までに今年(2011年)の3月、AMD E-350を搭載した11.6型モバイルノート「dm1-3000」の記事を掲載しているが、メモリ4GB、HDD 500GB(7,200rpm)の店頭モデルで予想価格6万円前後だったことを考えると、一気に2万円も安くなったことがわかる。

The initial set-up is, as ever, clearly presented in the accompanying leaflet and CD-ROM. Weighing less than 8kg and with dimensions of 456 x 517 x 396mm, this is a compact yet sturdy all-in-one with very little assembly needed. The front of the control panel has to be clipped on, the plastic in and out trays attached to the front and the two cartridges inserted and then you're pretty much ready to go. The print speeds are 30ppm (pages per minute) for monochrome and 24ppm for colour, with a maximum resolution of 4,800dpi. The copying speed is the same, the in-tray will hold 100 pages and there's an automatic document feeder which can handle up to 35 pages of A4. Paper sizes that can be accommodated include A4, A5, A6, letter, legal, executive, borderless photo, borderless panoramic and envelopes. Transparencies can't really be dealt with as there's no slide holder provided, but ordinary print photos - even at A4 size - have impressively authentic colour reproduction. Scanning photos at 2,400 x 4,800dpi optical resolution is easy and there are several methods of accessing your pictures. From your digital camera you can insert the following range of memory cards: xD-Picture, Memory Stick, Magic Gate Memory Stick, Memory Duo, Memory Stick Pro, CompactFlash, Secure Digital and MultiMediaCard. There are also two USB 2.0 ports for those digital cameras with PictBridge mode. Video captures can be printed as long as the image files include JPEG, TIFF, MPEG-1, AVI and Quicktime. If your still or video camera doesn't support these file types or memory cards, then you can save them to your computer first and then convert them using the supplied HP Photosmart software, which is the principal software for all scanning jobs.
